Two weeks before departure
- Passport and visa. Both originals in your carry-on. Take photocopies; keep one in your checked bag.
- Accommodation confirmed. First night at minimum. Long-term housing should be locked in. PEC partners with Canada Homestay Network for Canada-bound students.
- Health insurance. Active from day one of arrival. Print the confirmation.
- Flight booked. Choose a carrier that allows extra baggage at reasonable rates (Qatar, Emirates, KLM, Lufthansa).
- Foreign currency. Carry enough cash for the first 2 to 3 days. Open the destination bank account on arrival; not before.
- Mobile plan. Buy a SIM at the airport or activate an eSIM before flying.
- Vaccinations. Yellow fever certificate is mandatory for travel from Uganda. Check destination-specific requirements.
- Brief your family. Share your itinerary, emergency contacts, and accommodation address.
